Emblem for Excel
Quick answers to the questions we hear most about the Excel add-in.
How do I install Emblem for Excel?
Once Emblem for Excel is published in the Microsoft Marketplace, install it from inside Excel under Insert → Add-ins → Search "Emblem". While the marketplace listing is pending, you can also sideload it directly: in Excel on the web, choose Insert → Add-ins → Upload My Add-in and upload the manifest from excel.emblem.pe/manifest.xml. The "Show Emblem" button will appear on the Home tab of the ribbon.
Why am I being asked to sign in?
Emblem for Excel uses your existing Emblem account to access your deal documents and AI agents. The first time you open the task pane, an Office login dialog opens to portal.emblem.pe. Once you sign in there, the task pane reconnects automatically and your session persists for 30 days — you won't have to sign in again until your token expires.
The add-in is stuck on "Connecting…" — what should I try?
The most common cause is the Office login pop-up being blocked or accidentally closed. Click Cancel, then Login with Emblem again and allow the pop-up. If you're on Excel on the web, also make sure your browser isn't blocking third-party cookies for
portal.emblem.pe. Still stuck? Email luke@emblem.pe and we'll get you in.Why can't Emblem find my deal documents?
The add-in only sees documents owned by the Emblem account you signed in with. If a teammate uploaded the deal under a different organization or workspace, you won't have access from the Excel add-in either. Sign in to portal.emblem.pe first to confirm the deal is visible there.
How do I start a fresh chat?
Click the new-chat icon in the top-right corner of the task pane. This clears the conversation history. Your spreadsheet is untouched — only the chat resets.
Emblem wrote into the wrong cells — can I undo?
Yes. Excel's native undo works on everything the add-in writes, so press Ctrl/Cmd+Z to roll back. If you'd like Emblem to redo the operation differently, just describe what you want in chat ("rewrite that table starting at H5 instead").
Does Emblem train on my data?
No. Cell contents and chat messages are used solely to generate the AI's response for that turn and to populate your workbook. Your data is never used to train any AI model, ours or otherwise. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Emblem for PowerPoint
Quick answers to the questions we hear most about the PowerPoint add-in.
How do I install Emblem for PowerPoint?
Once Emblem for PowerPoint is published in the Microsoft Marketplace, install it from inside PowerPoint under Insert → Add-ins → Search "Emblem". While the marketplace listing is pending, you can also sideload it directly: in PowerPoint on the web, choose Insert → Add-ins → Upload My Add-in and upload the manifest from ppt.emblem.pe/manifest.xml. The "Show Emblem" button will appear on the Home tab of the ribbon.
It says I need to update PowerPoint — why?
Emblem for PowerPoint captures an image of your current slide so the AI can see what it's editing. That requires PowerPoint API requirement set 1.8, which is available in PowerPoint on the web (any current browser), Windows Microsoft 365 Version 2504 (Build 18730.20030) or later, and Mac Version 16.96 (Build 25041326) or later. If you see the "Update PowerPoint" screen, update Office or simply use PowerPoint on the web. The slide-capture API isn't available on iPad.
Why am I being asked to sign in?
Emblem for PowerPoint uses your existing Emblem account to access your deal documents and AI agents. The first time you open the task pane, an Office login dialog opens to portal.emblem.pe. Once you sign in there, the task pane reconnects automatically and your session persists for 30 days.
Emblem changed the wrong thing on my slide — can I undo?
Yes. PowerPoint's native undo works on everything the add-in writes, so press Ctrl/Cmd+Z to roll back. If an individual action isn't supported on your version of PowerPoint, the add-in reports it and preserves the generated content (image, table, or text) so you can apply it manually — it never aborts the rest of the turn.
Does Emblem train on my slides?
No. Your slide image, the chat messages you send, and the slide's shape details are used solely to generate the AI's response for that turn and to edit your deck at your direction. Your data is never used to train any AI model, ours or otherwise. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Privacy & your data
Emblem for Excel only reads the cells you select or that you ask the AI to read; Emblem for PowerPoint only sees the slide you're working on. Both write back only at your direction. We don't train models on your data, and your documents stay confidential. For the full details, see our Privacy Policy and Security pages.
